Not Crossfit, Better Than Bootcamp…DUFF on the importance of Macronutrients
Fitness and weight loss is so much more than just going through the motions at the gym and expecting to see results. The key to success is the right type of exercise, whether it is in a group class or personal training, having the right coach guide you through your workout is extremely important. You have probably heard the saying “you cannot out exercise a bad diet”. This is one of our mottos at DUFF in Mt. Pleasant. Our approach to fitness and nutrition sets us apart from both Crossfit and regular bootcamps in the Charleston area.
A topic that we talk a lot about at our gym concerning getting on the right path for proper nutrition is the importance of the right types of macronutrients. If your goals include either weight loss, increase overall health, loss of body fat, losing inches, or leaning down, you have to make sure that you are eating the right things. If you are taking part in a regular bootcamp, read up because your instructor might not have covered this. Macronutrients are a fancy word for protein, fat and carbohydrates. Not only is it important to consume all three of these types of foods, but it is equally important to eat the right types of proteins, fats and carbs. For optimal nutrition, weight loss, fitness, health and performance in your workout, make sure to eat lean proteins, healthy fats (nuts, seeds, healthy oils, etc…), and get most of your carbohydrates in the form of fruits and vegetables.
